The White Dress

We met in the first year of the Engineering course at the University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) - Porto Alegre - in March 1958. Berenice was curious to meet the boy who ranked first in the entrance exam and I was curious to meet the girl who was also very well classified.

It was an immediate courtship, engagement in the fourth year and marriage in the fifth year - 19 May 1962 (to be able to travel together !!! on the trip through Brazil, organized by the graduating class).

At the graduation ceremony, in December 1962, the following photo is not to be forgotten:

At the right corner The White Dress, along with the 120 black suits: Berenice was the only woman in the Engineering class at UFRGS 1962.

When her name was mentioned, Berenice received a standing ovation from the audience and all her colleagues.

I also had my moment of attention when they announced that I was the first place in the five years of the course. That's why I received the "Paulo Brossard" award, which was given to the first places in the main faculties. As funds for the prizes remained available, more prizes were given and Berenice took the second place prize.
